Questions, answered honestly
Everything people ask before — and after — downloading Launchr Post. Including the limits we own up to. If your question isn’t here, email support@launchr.dk.
Getting started
What is Launchr Post?
A post‑production pipeline app for Mac. It takes a whole shoot day — camera cards, audio dumps, drone footage — and syncs sound to picture, drives RAW proxies, sorts and transcribes everything on‑device, and exports a cut‑ready package for your editor (FCPXML, Premiere XML, ALE, multicam groups, sync report). The pipeline then ends at the client: send the finished export from the app and your client approves it in the browser, with no account. Sync, sorting, proxies and transcription run entirely on your own Mac — no account, no cloud, one‑time purchase. More about client review.
Do I need an account or a credit card to try it?
No account. You download the app, enter an email address and add a card, and the 7‑day trial license is issued — no password, no profile. Nothing is charged if you cancel before the trial ends, and cancelling is one click.
Is the trial limited in any way?
No — it’s the full app for 7 days. Every feature, no watermarks, no locked panels. Sync a real shoot day and judge the result on your own footage.
What happens when the 7 days are up?
If Launchr Post earned its place, do nothing: at the end of the trial the €99 one‑time license is charged to the card you added, and you keep working right where you are. If not, cancel with one click before the trial ends and nothing is charged. Your library and files stay untouched on your disk either way.
Why is the download about 590 MB?
Because everything is built in: ffmpeg, Whisper and the transcription language model ship inside the app. That’s what makes it a download‑open‑run experience — no dependencies to install, and transcription runs fully offline on your Mac instead of in someone’s cloud. The size is a deliberate trade.
How do I install it — and is it safe to run?
Open the downloaded .dmg, drag Launchr Post into Applications, and open it — the first start takes a moment while macOS verifies the app. There’s also a .pkg installer if your setup prefers one. The app is signed and notarized by Apple and keeps itself up to date.
The pipeline: offload, sync, proxies, organize, handover
Does it offload my cards with checksums?
Yes — since version 0.1.46. Pick the card and one or more destinations: Launchr Post reads the card once, writes every copy, then reads each copy back from the destination’s own disk and compares its SHA‑256 against the source. A file is only called verified when every destination you picked is proven — if it reached only some of them it says “only partly secured”, and so does the report. The report is written next to the footage in _launchr-offload/ as JSON, plain text and MHL‑like XML, and a journal after every file makes an interrupted offload resumable. See how it works.
How does sync actually work?
Timecode first: file timecode and BWF/iXML metadata pair every audio take with the right camera clip. Wherever timecode is missing or untrustworthy, sample‑accurate waveform matching takes over. The app measures recorder drift in real numbers (ms/min), groups multiple cameras into multicam clips, and processes a whole shoot day in one pass — no clapper, no manual nudging, no plugins.
My editing app already syncs by waveform. Why would I need this?
Honestly: for a single‑camera interview with one recorder, your NLE’s built‑in sync is often enough — try that first, it’s free. A dedicated tool earns its keep on bulk work: multicam shoot days, long recordings that drift, multi‑recorder sessions, hundreds of takes. Launchr Post also runs before the edit — your editor opens a project that’s already synced, sorted and searchable — and sync is one stage of a pipeline that also covers proxies, transcription and handover. Full comparisons: PluralEyes, Kyno, OffShoot.
Which cameras, formats and codecs are supported?
On the picture side: MOV, MP4, MXF, AVCHD, R3D, BRAW, Canon CRM and ARRIRAW. On the sound side: WAV/BWF, MP3 and M4A. It also reads Premiere .prproj and FCP7 XML project files. If a file from your rig behaves oddly, email us — camera quirks are exactly the kind of thing we fix.
How do RAW proxies work?
For RAW formats that need a licensed decoder (Canon CRM, RED, BRAW), Launchr Post drives your own tools — DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Media Encoder or Compressor — kicks off the render with the right settings and picks up the finished proxies automatically. Already have editor proxies? They’re reused instead of re‑rendered. And the full‑resolution original is always one click away from any clip.
How do transcription and search work?
Speech is transcribed on your Mac with Whisper — nothing is uploaded anywhere. You then search a whole shoot day by filename and by what was said, and jump straight to the timecode where the words are spoken, instead of scrubbing through hours of footage.
What exactly is in the editor handover package?
One click exports synced timelines as FCPXML and Premiere XML, an ALE for workflows that want one, multicam groups ready to cut, and a sync report that shows exactly what was matched and how. Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and Avid‑style workflows all have a way in — your editor opens a project, not a puzzle.
Can it read a finished edit and find the clips that were actually used?
Yes. Drag in a Premiere .prproj or FCP7 XML project and Launchr Post finds the clips that are actually on the timeline — not just everything that was imported. Useful for archiving, reuse, and collecting only what made the film.
Client review & approval New in 0.1.45
Shipped in version 0.1.45: send a finished export from the app, let your client approve it in the browser, and get the answer back in the app.
Can my clients review and approve cuts?
Yes — since version 0.1.45. From a project in the app you pick a finished export, choose or create the production and the deliverable, and send. The file uploads with real progress, you get a link to share, and your client watches and approves in the browser. The approval lands back in the app on the exact version they saw, with name and timestamp.
What does my client actually see?
A page in their browser with the version you sent: they can watch it, write comments — with a timecode attached to the moment they mean — and approve. Nothing else: no project management, no folders, no settings. If a newer version arrives later, it appears as its own item awaiting approval, and the earlier approval stays on record.
Does my client need an account, an app, or a paid seat?
None of the three. Approvers are always free and account‑free — that is a deliberate design choice, not a trial limitation. A link in any browser is all they need. If you want the link tighter, you can lock it to a single mobile number when you create it; then it only opens after an SMS one‑time code.
Where do the files live when I send a version for review?
The one exported file you choose is uploaded to Launchr’s storage so your client can open it in a browser — that is the whole point of a link. Everything else stays where it always was: your rushes, proxies, transcripts and library never leave your Mac. Uploads are verified complete before anything is released to the client, and a cancelled or failed transfer cleans up after itself.
What does client review cost?
Sending a cut to a client and getting the approval back is part of the €99 license, and part of the free 7‑day trial. Your clients never pay anything, ever. The license covers one production in review at a time. If you need several at once, or colleagues in the same place, the shared web layer is sold in bands: Team €29, Studio €79 and House €199 per month, each with storage included and unlimited review productions. Extra storage is €25 per TB per month with no cap, and House takes people beyond the first 25 at €10 each per month. See what each band holds, or email us if you would rather have an invoice and a contract.
What can the review flow not do yet?
Being precise: the panel in the app shows status, versions, approvals and comments, but it does not play the film back inside the app — your client watches it in the browser. The app checks for new approvals on a timer and when you press refresh; there are no push notifications or email alerts yet. And you cannot delete or revoke productions and links from the app panel — if you need a link killed, email us and we will do it.
Pricing & license
How much does Launchr Post cost?
€99 as a one‑time purchase (launch pricing, down from €129), excluding VAT — VAT is added at checkout based on your country. No subscription, no meter running, no per‑seat anything. The 7‑day trial is completely free.
What does the license cover — and are updates included?
One license covers two machines, with one in use at a time, and includes all v1.x updates — the pipeline keeps growing and your license grows with it. The app updates itself automatically.
Can I move my license to a new Mac?
Yes. Release the license on the old machine from inside the app and activate it on the new one. If a machine dies before you can release it, email us and we’ll sort it out.
What if I buy and it doesn’t work out for me?
The free 7‑day trial is the full app precisely so you can find out before paying. If you bought and something isn’t right, email us — we’d rather fix the problem or make it right than keep money from an unhappy editor.
Privacy & security
Is my footage uploaded anywhere?
No — not unless you ask for it. Sync, sorting, proxies, transcription and search all run on your own Mac, and your media stays on your disk. There are exactly two exceptions, and both are your explicit choice, file by file: sending a finished export for client review (that one file is uploaded so your client can open the link), and the optional one‑click push to Launchr if you want a shared team library. Your rushes are never part of either.
Does the app connect to the internet at all?
For three small things: issuing your trial or license, checking for app updates, and optional anonymous app diagnostics — crash reports and feature usage with no filenames, no media, no transcripts, which you can switch off in Settings. Your footage and everything derived from it stays on your disk.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The whole local pipeline — sync, proxies, sorting, transcription, search, handover — runs without a network connection, and your license is verified locally on the machine. You only need to be online to get the trial or license issued in the first place, for updates, and for sending a version to client review (that step uploads a file, so it needs a connection).
Who is behind Launchr Post?
Launchr ApS, a Danish company (CVR 46553837). The app is signed and notarized by Apple. Support goes to support@launchr.dk, where you get a fast first answer and anything that needs a person reaches the people who build the product.
Releases, limits & support
The honest line: everything on this page is in the app today. This last section is where we say what the app deliberately does not do — and where to reach a human.
What can the offload not do?
Three honest limits. The checksum is SHA‑256 (hardware‑accelerated on Apple Silicon), not the xxHash that ASC MHL standardised — so the XML we write is MHL‑like, and the JSON and text reports are the authoritative ones. It does not overwrite anything at the destination: an identical file is verified instead, and a different file with the same name is left untouched with a message rather than silently replaced. And it does not erase or format cards for you — that stays your decision, deliberately.
What shipped most recently?
Version 0.1.50 (August 2026) — your account, your subscription and your footage in the cloud, all visible inside the app. Earlier releases each closed a stage of the pipeline: client review and approval straight from the app, and checksum‑verified card offload with a report you can hand over. Buying the app includes all v1.x updates, so the pipeline keeps growing on the license you already have.
Is there a Windows version, or does it run on Intel Macs?
No. Launchr Post is Mac‑only and requires Apple Silicon (M1 or later) with macOS 12+. Intel Macs are not supported — the on‑device transcription and proxy pipeline are built for Apple Silicon. On Windows, Syncaila is the closest one‑time‑purchase sync specialist; our PluralEyes comparison covers the options honestly.
How do I get support?
Email support@launchr.dk. You get a fast first answer, and anything that needs judgement reaches the people who build the app. Bug reports about real footage, odd camera files and sync edge cases get particular attention, because that’s how the app gets better.
The rest of the answers are in the app
Full app, free for 7 days — cancel with one click if it isn’t for you. Drop in a real shoot day and see the synced, sorted, searchable result on your own disk.
